Happen to think that the Harley fest is beginning so am thinking of an alternative plan. Maybe head South instead. Catch some BBQ at Jeff's, maybe.  ??????????

So, I had 3 conversations going on when I wrote that above. Pay no attention.

Paul and did however ride down to Nebraska and spent the weekend with Mark and Bonnie. Also rode over to Ashland and had BBQ at GSJeff's place. Had a great time. Thanks Mark, Bonnie, and Jeff.

Surprisingly I had never been south of Springfield in NE. I enjoyed riding in the area. The gravel roads around the Niobrara River area VERY loose and sandy.

The 25th weekend is still on. Thinking we will leave Mitchell mid afternoon on Friday and camp at Sage Creek that night. Then head for the hills in the morning. Will make more definite plans as we get closer.

Several of us already talked about that comment, we decided to leave it alone and "pay no attention."

You see I was very busy that night. I thought that I posted about the weekend of the 5th but instead, I texted it. Then my head got confused and I responded here instead of text. I never said I was the brightest bulb in the lamp, just hope the patients got the right meds that night.  :evil

Poor Dan, "driveway doesn't go all the way to the house," "not the sharpest tool in the shed," "one short of 6 pack," "A burger short of a combo meal,"  "A few peas short of a casserole," "Not the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree."  I think you get the idea.  Anymore?   Poor Dan, he's so much fun to pick on.  ;)

Careful Dave or I will start picking on you again.

Besides... I think Dan's brain might function like a dolphin. They can stay awake for 15 days straight because only 1/2 of their brain sleeps at a time.

What our fearless leader has planned. Paul I will figure that as the departure time.

I like that dolphin analogy. That would be awesome.

The 26th at 1530 it is. Head out and camp at Sage Creek Friday night then head for the Hills in the AM. We, Paul, Minipaul, Nathaniel, and I will crash at Joel's place. Mark, you are more than welcome to crash there or if you are more comfy in a bed rather than the floor or couch, you can bug some other fine DDSRer for a crash pad. There are plenty of fine folks willing to offer up a bed or couch.

I've got no plans except to ride and eat and have a great time. I am thinking I may hang out another day or two after the weekend. I know Paul needs to head back on Sunday. So Mark, if you wanna take a couple more days, I'd be up for it.

If you wanna do some extra days I am down with that!  I do have that week off so I can always come back and ride some more.

Title: Re: AUG 25 THRU THE 27+

Ok. We are heading out to the hills this weekend. We will hole up for the night, Friday at Sage Creek in the Badlands. Saturday we will head into the Hills, Probably will head for Lead to dump our stuff off at Joel's place then get ready for a ride. I figured we can meet for lunch somewhere and take off for an afternoon ride. I was thinking, and with the request of a couple others, that we do a fairly easy 2 track ride. I will have a passenger so can't make it too tough, that means no bad rocks and no mud. Hoping to get Jaden, Paul's son, riding by next years so I will not have to perform this duty again. (unless there's some hottie that wants a ride)

So, it anyone has any ideas of a good fairly easy 2 track/gravel route for Saturday afternoon, that would be greatly appreciated.

For Sunday I thought we would get a fairly early start, or about our usual start time. Thought we would do a mixed ride asphalt, gravel, maybe take Castle Peak road, make our way to Hill City, Keystone, Iron Mountain road, etc, etc and get some lunch in Custer and then make our way back to lead. As all of you know that have ridden nothing is written in stone and things can change on a dime. Open as always to other ideas.

Monday and Tuesday will be freestyling. No plan what so ever, so what happens, happens. I think I will head home on Wednesday as I need to be back to work Thursday evening.

I am bringing the camper, also bringing another rider with me. We will be camped at Steel Wheel. Got an extra bed if you need one. We were looking for a fifth wheel, I wanted one like yours. She wanted a bigger model, so we compromised and got the bigger model. Lots of room. We could pull out the table bed for you, Heidi won't be along, just me and a guy from work.

My band is playing in Buffalo (Wyo) tonight, probably won't get home till about 3:30 AM. I'll try to get a nap and make it to Lead by lunchtime, but I wouldn't count on it. Plus with Cool Deadwood Nights going on I will probably circle around to Rapid  and back on 44 rather than try to pull the camper through that mess. I will text Dan when I get there and see if we can catch up somewhere.

Yep, she found a free ride for her and bike.  She left Monday with "Idaho Joe" a Rekluse Clutch rep. from Boise.

It was a great ride! Thank you to everyone! Here is a better track from Savoy to Devils Tower. Includes Roughlock Falls, Cement Ridge Lookout, the ghost town of Tinton, Warren Peak Lookout, Devils Tower, and Ranch A. Where the tracks split; On the way up take the Eastern and Southern options, on the way back take the Northern and Western.
Big bike friendly.
