The 2019 Dakota Dual Sport Riders June rally will once again be held in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota! Camping will be at the Fish 'n Fry campground just south of Deadwood, SD:
http://www.FishNFryCampground.com (http://www.fishnfrycampground.com)
Dates are June 13–16, 2019. You can arrive anytime after noon on Thursday, June 13, departing on Sunday, June 16. Weather should be dry and warm - avg highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s, BUT, this is South Dakota...if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. ;-) Cell service has been OK in the campground the last couple years, and its only 2 miles to the top of Strawberry Mountain if you do have trouble.
Entry Fee: FREE!
Camping: Tents - $?? per person/night, RVs/Campers - $?? per night. You will pay the campground when you arrive, no pre-payment required. All tent sites will be reserved from entries on this sign-up thread. FnF have cabins available as well, but you will need to reserve those yourself by calling Gary or Michelle. Also please call and reserve RV sites on your own. Make sure you tell them you are with DDSR to get the special discount!
Fish 'n Fry phone number: (605) 578-2150
We will have enough room for plenty of tents. RV sites near the tent sites are at a premium and need to be reserved as far in advance as possible, although there will be plenty of RV spots available away from "ground zero".
The rally is open to any and all skill levels of riders with any motorcycle that is street legal in SD (doesn't take much: headlight, taillight & license plate is about it). All attempts will be made to keep the amount of pavement on our rides to a minimum, but it is a necessary evil in the Black Hills to get from one trail to another sometimes.
Rides can range from gravel/easy fire roads to rocks to single track to really gnarly rocks & single track, hillclimbs, etc. There will be something for everybody!
The Fish 'n Fry campground (FnF) has full showers (coin operated, bring a couple of quarters if you don't want to smell like a dirty biker!), real bathrooms (with sinks & mirrors!), a general store (with beer), a small restaurant (with beer on tap!) and a grill and shelter we can use if it rains. 24hr gas station/convenience store right across the street, and Deadwood is only 10 minutes away. There are picnic tables, but if you want a guaranteed seat by the fire you better bring your own.
Electricity is available to charge cell phones, iPods, etc., however it is outside, so use at your own risk!
Firewood from outside the campground is not permitted (sometimes an exception is made for us DDSR folks, though).
The FnF has bundles of wood for $??
Limited food will be provided, but plan on fending for yourself during the day.
- Organized food TBA
Cars, trucks & bike trailers will have room to park, but could be a ways away from your campsite.

Just looked at the Omaha Adventure Riders Facebook page and they have 21 signed up
to come to the spring rally. If your even thinking about coming reserve a spot, it's going to be full at Fish and Fry. I think you can cancel up to 2 weeks before and only loose $10 but be sure and confirm this with Fish and Fry.

I just heard about this, I am really looking forward to a great time and new friends. The 1 way eight hour drive should be worth it!
I hope we do not disappoint, Joel.
I'll most likely just show up in the morning looking for single track riders.

If there's a list. I'm afraid you'll have to cross me off. Ruptured a disk in my lower back. Probably done for the year :'(
Sorry to hear that
Just recovered from sugery for the same issue. Hope you have a speedy recovery.

Thanks guys. Hasn't been much fun with the sciatic pain as well. Glad your surgery went well, IYAAYAS. I've heard conflicting outcomes, but I may end up going that route too.
Sounds like you have the exact same symptoms i had. I feel your pain... if its any peace of mind, the surgery has made a significant difference.

I had a camper site reserved, but knew it wasn't a sure deal. Ended up cancelling that, but I still might make it for at least part of the rally and tenting it.
Sounds like its going to be a big one! I hope to see you all there!
My 1st time to this rally. Do you use roll charts or GPS for route directions? Thank you

I just follow Lonesome Dave.
I think a few have GPS/Avenza maps.
Have a few photos for us poor shlubs that can't make it this time.
Everyone usually brakes into groups in the morning. Typically there is a group lead that knows the area very well. If you plan on splitting off at any point a GPS / Avanza maps app will be useful. If you plan on staying with a group just just enjoy the ride!

Brooksie -
If you don't do a dedicated GPS, I would for sure down-load the free AVENZA app on your smart-phone. There's 3 maps you need to be fully covered
- Mystic Ranger District MVUM
- Hell Canyon Ranger District MVUM
- Northern Hills Ranger District MVUM
..... each of these maps is a direct overlay of the official BHNF
Do this before you get to FnF!
Paper maps seem to be great for planning but the GPS phone apps usually seem to be better when you are on the trail sorting out why you've gone in the same circle for a 3rd time.
Riding seems to happen all different ways for this group. Sometimes a couple of people want to explore on their own. Sometimes group of like-minded souls will form and head out to a specific place or feature (like spending the day chasing fire lookout towers, looking for Elk, or heading over to Devils Tower), sometimes a small group will link up with a local rider and flog the trails that he/she knows.
There will be some maps to look over when you get to FnF. Talk to some of the locals or frequent offenders when you get there and they can likely point you in the right direction.
FYI - there are many areas in the BHNF where your cell phone will not have reception BUT your phones GPS will still work W/O cell signal
Good info Whacked. Your the bomb!

yep! Well said.
I added to my map list.
We are not going to make it this year. Had to cancel res. at fish and fry today. Still trying to get hay put up. Guess I will not be doing any ST on the big honda 2 up this year. Will miss seeing Jerry's wife also!! ;)! Will try to get out there in the fall.
Should be another rv spot open now.
Unfortunately I have somethings come up literally in the last couple days I will not be able to make it this spring hopefully I can get to the fall rally. Hope you all have fun. Well I'm sure you will.
