Title: Lighting Question
Post by: sdguy on September 05, 2009, 11:17:28 PM
I had a close call with a deer the other night will riding in the hills.  I would like to add some additional lights to the KLR, to hopefully take some of the deers advantage away.  Has anyone installed additional lighting, if so what types of lights did you use.  I like the PIAA but really don't want to drop that type of cash.  Thanks in advance for any help....Garry

There is a company that sells a one piece fairing for the older KLR's and probably new ones that allows dual headlights.

Just be careful about the wattage.  You may need to get a higher output stator to go along with the lights as the KLR doesn't produce much extra juice.  I don't know the exact numbers.

There is a very lengthy thread over on klr650.net about making your own LED running lights.  If you go LED you will have enough power as they don't draw much.   I made a bunch of brackets to mount them for the guys over there, and still have some if you're interested.
