Winter Riding

Went out last Sat & Sun for a couple of colder weather rides. Got these new gloves a couple weeks ago, this was my first time riding with them:





Tourmaster Cortech cold weather gloves. Didn't keep my fingers very warm, though. Wondering if grip heaters or electric glove liners are the answer.  It's always hard to get used to the controls when using the more bulky gloves, even then, I sure don't feel like I have the same amount of control as with my regular gloves.

All in all, I stayed pretty warm, with temps dipping into the 30s.  I don't mind riding when it's cold and dry, but cold and wet is another story! Was A LOT of  mud/ice/slush hampering my fun:









Trying to avoid the slick stuff, I spent most of my time on gravel or hard packed dirt roads:







I had all my liners in my jacket & pants = VERY bulky! A lot harder to control the bike with all that gear on! Still had a blast!!

Kept my face shield completely clear of fog!!  Before, when I've rode in the cold, I had to always leave the visor open a crack to clear the fog, freezing my face in the process. This thing is great! Best $20 I've spent on bike gear this year.

Just need to figure out how to keep my fingers and toes warmer, and I think I could ride down into the 20s without a problem.

nice work yeti.  it takes some nads to ride in the wintertime.

i love being warm in the wintertime but i hate having to put on all the bulky gear in order to be warm.  like you said, it just feels different when riding and takes some getting used to. 

i just have some good wool socks that i wear to keep the toes warm. 

and again, the electric gloves are bulky, but they work awesome.  widder's.  i don't think any "cold weather" glove really does that much better in the winter than a good leather glove.  maybe for winter in arizona or florida, but for winter in south dakota, the gloves almost have to be electric for any extended riding times.

Was just reading some threads about that very same thing! My one concern is how well they work when standing...do they flex enough to allow for different arm angles or are you pretty much stuck sitting down when using the HHs?

Found these for just $16...wonder if they'll work, or should I just buy the Hippos and keep my $16??

Sounds like Hippo Hands (or their equivalant) plus grip heaters are the best solution for keeping the hands warm. Guys are just wearing their regular riding gloves with this setup! Anyone wanna buy a pair of "winter" gloves??
