Title: Horizons Unlimited Community Thread for SD
Post by: TrueSDGirl on June 24, 2014, 10:20:45 AM
Hi, guys!

I started a community thread on Horizons Unlimited a few years ago and think I may have been (or may still be) the only person listed in South Dakota as being on that "Community".  I received a message from a rider coming over from Scotland in August and wanted to do some riding, if possible, with some local riders.  I'd happily help him but I'm on the road right now and won't be back by then.

Two questions:

This message is for rapidcity FROM:

   fname: Raymond
   lname: McCourt
  hubbid: iceaxe
    city: Glasgow

country: Scotland

Hi everyone.
I leave Glasgow for my big American tour on 10 August 2014.
I am flying into Denver where I plan to buy a bike then travel to be near Rapid
City from 21 August to 5 September 2014.
It would be great to meet up with you guys and do some local routes.
I may fly over to San Diego for a few days and may need to store bike and kit.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Raymond

Oops, sorry about that....hit send before I meant to.

Hi, guys!

Some of you may already know or use Horizons Unlimited, but just in case, it's a great website/resource for anyone wanting to do overland travel, including a large number of motorcyclists. You can research info. on bikes, rides, make contacts, meet people, attend events, etc.

#1 - Is anyone interested in joining the Rapid City (it had to be listed as a city instead of the Black Hills as a region when I set it up) Community on Horizons Unlimited.  I think it would be a great way to meet riders coming through our beautiful part of the world.
#2 - Any of you interested in reaching out to "iceaxe" from Scotland and meeting up with him to ride or helping him at all, feel free to reach out to him on www.horizonsunlimited.com and use his call sign to message him

His message to me is pasted in below.  Thanks guys!  Wishing you all happy and safe riding!

He will need a skid plate then, just ask Gregg.  ;D

We should organize a ride or two with Raymond and treat him to one of the local "pubs" here in R.C. afterwards.
