i consider myself a bit of a fan of many types of music, including country, but i don't recognize a single name on your list, other than the father of the "son's of Johnny Cash."

Lately I've been digging some of the songs by

Neko Case & Her Boyfriends

Osnabrock

Ah Neko Case............
She's one of my favorites.
I've seen her a few times with the New Pornographers but never her solo stuff, though I like it just as much.
The alt-country has been off my radar for a little while but I did get a chance to see Cracker a couple of weeks ago.  Remember the song Low from about 1992?
Lately I've been listening to:
Coeur De Pirate
Armistice
The National
City and Colour is coming to town next weekend and I'm hoping to check them out.

Bogus Jim

This is one of my favorites... it's often on the iPod playlist when I'm riding single track.

Lonesome Dave

Jim, my wife and daughter still sing that song!

Bogus Jim

It's not actually on my iPod. I was kidding...  ;)

Lonesome Dave

I didn't figure you did, but they still sing the song!

I on the other hand, am not a country fan. I like my music a little on the harder side, mostly prog rock and metal. I do stay from there and listen and listen to some classical, ambient, funk, blues, bluegrass, goth metal and a host of other stuff.

Dream Theater
Porcupine Tree
Fates Warning
Queensryche
Ayreon
Edguy
Loreena McKennitt
Pendragon
Tori Amos
Nickel Creek

And the weird mix goes on and on.......

Did I ever tell you: " I HATE MUD!" ?
