I dont know why, but I've been having the urge to get out and try some new area, other terrain, you know, something new. We used to ride ATV's in farmingdale all the time, and I remember a few nice loops and lots of room to mess around. when the weather warms up some, who would want to go out for a day?

Me too! We like to take the kids and the camper out there and make a day of it (only happened twice), there is a lot to expplore. I would love to see the 800 do the big hill climb :evil. Let me know. We could so a DDSR cookout.

We should do a group ride out here this spring. Farmingdale's probably already dry. I was out to Rockerville this afternoon and trails were rideable, just a little muddy in places.
I was out there a couple of weeks ago. It was crazy busy (at least for me) but I eventually found trails where no one else was around.
I also was the only one that rode there, played around, and rode back. I went to the west about 10 miles to the area of "Thompson Butte." It was fun. I did hear that you can actually go to the east and end up on "Base Line Road" that runs along the Cheyenne River. I think that would be a neat ride. I haven't looked at the map to see if possible without being shot at! Anybody know? LD :-\
Farmingdale does get very busy on spring weekends. I guess lots of folks get cabin fever over the winter, they want to get out and ride, before the BHNF trails are thawed and open.
I have ridden Base Line Road once or twice, starting from Rapid Valley. It is scenic, worth riding if you want to kick back on a Sunday afternoon and ride some gravel. If you ride east of Farmingdale you will run into Creston road. Not sure how you'd get from there, north to Base Line, it looks like all private land to me.
i think it looks easier than Pilot Knob. As long as you don't look down. defiantly a mental aspect to that one. I think i would have to watch someone do it first, unless you think the shocks will make it all ok......
Jim, I kinda messed that up! Your right....I meant Creston Road. I think the only way to get to Base Line Rd is via the Cheyenne river and a canoe.

I will probably make it. I've got some plans in the afternoon, but still could go for awhile. However, I might end up going to Gillette to look at a V-strom and/or a 650gs in Hot Springs. Not sure what I might do....I like them both!

I was thinking today, that sunday mornings at 10 is when the bmw club meets at pauly's, I'm sure they would be interested to see what bikes that get ridden look like!;D

I wouldn't mind meeting for breakfast. I guess I'd better hose off my boots if we're going to dine indoors, they have about 5 lbs. of Wyoming mud from last weekend. I will leave the mud on the bike, it looks cool. :P

The good news is that I just signed a remodeling project in North Central Minnesota for the summer. I'll be staying at the jobsite close to the forest trails.
Most of the forests around here are still closed. Word is that the DNR opens up the forests 2 weeks after the frost lifts.
Some motocross tracks are open but that's not really my thing yet.

Yeti- I'm not going to get my new meats spooned on either :-\ I wanted to save them for the spring rally anyway. I seem to remember myself saying " If I had better tires I could keep up with this Sprout guy :D"

I forgot my camera this time. Josh had his GoPro running so maybe he'll have some video later. Yeti and Plumber Mike didn't make it so was just Lonesome Dave, me and Josh.
We rode around Farmingdale for a while and then looked for a trail over to the Cheyenne River. I thought we would hit a bunch of dead ends out there, but it was pretty straight forward, actually. According to the GPS track, the trail is 9.7 miles long. All double track, all dirt.
After reaching the Cheyenne, we headed southwest towards Hermosa and then hit Teepee Gulch on the way back to Rapid. I couldn't believe that trail was clear of ice and snow, this time of year. Even the water crossings were probably only 6-9" deep. I feel like the riding season has officially started, now that we've ridden a "real" BHNF trail. I think Josh had some throttle problems on this trail as his bike kept accelerating wildly and spinning the tire.
Weather was perfect. It was a nice "warm-up" ride to start the season. And there were no crashes. ;D
I need to add, no crashes...always a good day! But Josh killed his bike going down a steep hill, started heading into "never never land," and then he recovered and back on his way. We took it real easy all day long, or least until Josh got trees all around him at Teepee Gulch. I guess he felt more comfortable and off we went splashing creeks and spinning tires. Great day, lots of fun, good company. ;D
I'm sorry I missed you guys. Since I had to stay home with a sick baby while Mom and other son went to a birthday party, I thought I'd still do something dual sport related, and put this together.
