The 2016 Dakota Dual Sport Riders June rally will once again be held in the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota! Camping will be at the Fish 'n Fry campground just south of Deadwood, SD: http://www.fishnfry.com/
Location is here:
(http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa178/jasonh_010/DDSR/map1.jpg) (http://s197.photobucket.com/user/jasonh_010/media/DDSR/map1.jpg.html)
We will be staying on the Hillside Loop once again.
Dates are June 16, 17, & 18, 2015. You can arrive anytime after noon on Thursday, June 16, departing on Sunday, June 19. Weather should be dry and warm - avg high 78, avg low 52. BUT, this is South Dakota...if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. ;-) Cell service has been OK in the campground the last couple years, and its only 2 miles to the top of Strawberry Mountain if you do have trouble.
Entry Fee: FREE!
Camping: Tents - $8 per person/night, RVs/Campers - $22 per night. You will pay the campground when you arrive, no pre-payment required. I will reserve all tent sites from entries on this sign-up thread. FnF have cabins available as well, but you will need to reserve those yourself by calling Gary or Michelle. Also please call and reserve RV sites on your own. Make sure you tell them you are with DDSR to get the special discount!
Fish 'n Fry phone number: (605) 578-2150
We will have enough room for plenty of tents. RV sites near the tent sites are at a premium and need to be reserved as far in advance as possible, although there will be plenty of RV spots available away from "ground zero".
The rally is open to any and all skill levels of riders with any motorcycle that is street legal in SD (doesn't take much: headlight, taillight & license plate is about it). All attempts will be made to keep the amount of pavement on our rides to a minimum, but it is a necessary evil in the Black Hills to get from one trail to another sometimes.
Rides can range from gravel/easy fire roads to rocks to single track to really gnarly rocks & single track, hillclimbs, etc. There will be something for everybody!
The Fish 'n Fry campground (FnF) has full showers (coin operated, bring a couple of quarters if you don't want to smell like a dirty biker!), real bathrooms (with sinks & mirrors!), a general store (with beer), a small restaurant (with beer on tap!) and a grill and shelter we can use if it rains. 24hr gas station/convenience store right across the street, and Deadwood is only 10 minutes away. There are picnic tables, but if you want a guaranteed seat by the fire you better bring your own.
Electricity is available to charge cell phones, iPods, etc., however it is outside, so use at your own risk!
Firewood from outside the campground is not permitted (sometimes an exception is made for us DDSR folks, though).
The FnF has bundles of wood for $4.50
Limited food will be provided, but plan on fending for yourself during the day.
- Organized food TBA
Cars, trucks & bike trailers will have room to park, but could be a ways away from your campsite.

Hey Sherlock, welcome. You can't get off that easy. Go over to the "member introductions" and introduce yourself. LD
So what is the food situation? Fend for yourselves or do we all want to pitch in suppers? Id say breakfast and lunch is on your own but it would be nice to finish the day chatting around some nice strip steaks.
Normally its just that - on your own for breakfast and lunch. FnF has a cafe, and another across the road. At night we usually end up with a group meal - chili or pulled pork and fixings.

First rally so should be fun. Only my second year riding dual sport in the hills so that should provide fellow riders with lots of entertainment!
I'm in. It's been too long. So long I forgot my password.
Would love to have you come out Mike. What are you riding these days?

Same here. I was actually out your way about 4 hours ago to pick up a friend with a broken versys.....err shinko. Oacoma?
I made a trip to AZ this winter(excellent riding and highly recommended) Another ADVrider fella purchased a new GS out there, which he didn't have room to take back to NC. He found room by pushing his old 2000 KTM 640 Enduro on me.....title and all, for a not yet received giveaway price.
It fits me like a glove and is everything my Xcountry wasn't to me.
I missed a few as I had been scooter in around on a CBR250
Looking forward to catching up with you guys.
Just going to be Bonnie and I coming out Hank.
Lonesome Dave do they have premium at the gas station across from Fish and Fry?
Mark, I'm not sure. Plumber Mike, do you know. I think its called Steel Wheel. I can try to call them.

Yes they do.
I've contacted the F&F folks a few times, including leaving a message yesterday, so hopefully this year we have plenty of space and that space isn't under a foot of water.

It's burning hot here right now. Total opposite of last year with cool weather and lots of rain. Dry as a bone. If it floods, it will be a flash flood :evil
It might be too hot to ride...... ::)
Last weekend, PegLeg and I were able to scout a 7hr (ish) double track loop that starts at Experimental Forest and ends at Sugar Shack. Besides experimental Forest, trail will go through Mystic, Victoria Lake, and region south of Pilot Knob.
I plan to show up on Friday and lead a group of 10 or 12 on an easy going, intermediate ride. I think it will be pretty scenic for Newbies

Have to back out guys. Been looking forward to this trip for 9 months. I knew Father's Day weekend was going to be tough for me being a restaurant guy so I waited until the last minute to sign up. Looked good until yesterday. Stinks having a business where you depend on so many people to do their jobs.
I'll put feelers out in July and see if anyone wants to meet for a day or two of riding in the Hills before the Fall rally.

Yeah that's a bummer!
This is stickied over in the trip planning board, but its worth a review before hitting the road.

Funny how many of the regulars in 2008 are gone these days. Have fun guys. Duty calls at the sweat shop. Wish I was able to make it but I hope to make it this fall.

Was hoping to ride over and at least catch this ride, but not going to make it. If someone saves a track I'd like to have it so I could ride it in a couple weeks?
I have Friday off, so if anyone needs someone to ride with, or a guide (half assed) let me know.
What time will everybody be leaving to ride on Sunday morning? I live in sturgis and ride a xr650r I would have signed up earlier bud didn't know if I'd have a day off or not. I'd love to meet everyone!

Not sure who up there will see this and the internet is bad sketchy. If you are make it by 9:00, you will get on a ride. Hope you have fun, its a fun bunch to ride with.
Well, the 2016 spring rally officially ended Sunday about 4:30 PM for Great Buffalo, when he crashed in the Fish and Fry parking lot after a great 120 mile trail ride. This is a typical picture for KLR's and a certain Triumph missing a foot peg. I had GREAT rides lead by Brad, Stan, L-Dave and MARK - Thanks, thanks, thanks and thanks. Now if we could ride some motorcycle only trails (not singletrack). Already looking forward to the fall rally!
:evil Well, it looks like a good place to crash.
I hope everyone had a great time. I know I did.
It was pretty funny. I was riding into camp and headed for my room when I noticed my wife over at Dave's place. I cranked the bars to change direction and grabbed too much front brake on marbles. Jerry got a great laugh out of it....... I did too.

Ziggy I have your table. 258 3421. LD Wee works great call when you have time. Thanks to all who brought food. I got 400 miles over the weekend. Fall rally can be anywhere it's all good. Thanks to trip leaders Brad Woody Dave & Mark I did not see much blood on anyone. Remember safety third
Yes to all the food providers - THANKS! That is a lot of work and its very much appreciated! Hopefully the kitty got enough $$ to cover it all and then some.
Thanks to all for the good Company good food and trails . Ready for the fall rally now .
