I saw these advertised a while back when a outfit in Wisconsin announced they were going to become a dealer of AJP.
At the time they looked kinda cheaply built at first glance.
Now the more I look at them I kinda like the design, It looks like a lot of thought went into it. Quick easy access to the air filter, carry the fuel down low (as long as the tank is designed strong enough to take a few dings) 250 cc efi'ed engine rad fan already in place.. Good suspension ..

The main thing is they come ready to go (add bark busters)

"The flagship model range from AJP, the PR5. Featuring an a liquid cooled 250cc four stroke single cylinder engine in AJPs trademark composite alloy/steel frame, the PR5 offers all the benefits of the established competition brands but at a fraction of the price."

That looks nice.   I think maybe a little heavy.. 115kg = 253lb, but it does look well thought out.    Following that adv link I saw this.

I think my next bike will be smaller and lighter, that looks incredible.    The KTM Freeride 250r really has my attention too at 203 lbs.

I think the price of 4850 is British Pounds or Euros...  ;)

I've seen $6495 MSRP on another site, which is still cheaper than any other 250 enduro.

1lb lighter then a CRF250X  :)
I bet it feels way lighter then the X with how low the center of gravity is.

The dollar is getting close! $1.13 USD = 1 euro!

I think you can get the PR5 for $5999
and the PR4 for $4999

The old PR5 (2012?) had a copy of the air cooled xr250r engine in it but with electric start.

Honda lists curb weight as 254, the wr250f is 256 curb (wet) weight, 233 dry..this is 253 dry.   If that's true its probably 20-25 heavier wet.     Of course Honda and Yamaha might be lying a bit too.

If the weight is slung low, wouldn't feel it though.

I think the WR250F feels pretty light.       The freeride is 204 dry, which is damn light.   2T, so not an apples to apples comparison, but I think it sets the bar for light weight.

Hank

My biggest concern on the AJP would be parts availability..    I'd have to wait for more of a dealer network to evolve I think.

I wonder how the reliability is?

It looks like AJP has a new adventure bike as well. 650cc and about 340 lbs. Not sure when it will be in U.S. market.

A little heavier than the 690.

Did I ever tell you: " I HATE MUD!" ?

I'm not in any way ready to dump the beta and get a AJP 250, BUT.. I do think its nice that there is this offering from them. It looks like a well thought out bike at a lower price point. If I was new to riding and looking at a new bike in the 250cc pack I think the AJP would get a try.

Its nice to see the "trail" bike market is expanding, it's good news for our hobby.

:evil :evil
It does weigh 10 pounds (plus what ever $1000 weighs)  more then the freeride... but oil injection, larger fuel tank.. might want to give it a look too Hank..

I'm no where near running out and buying a freeride (or anything else), but I think that a bike like that would be super fun in the tight or technical stuff.

Just reading up on the Beta, it looks like a whole lot of bike for 7k..    Adjustable power valve (KTM pitched theirs on the FR to save a few lbs).
