Title: Klr 650 protection
Post by: ewommack on June 08, 2016, 08:34:00 PM
Hey guys I'm looking for some crash bars and a skid plate for my first gen klr. Doesn't have to be pretty just serviceable. I tried some trails last year and decided I really need some protection.  A few trails the klr spent a good bit of the time napping. I will be at the rally on the 16th.

IMS tank is a pretty good option to consider too.  Protects the bike and radiator and adds some fuel range.  If you get a clear one it also adds a fuel gauge.

I'm curious about that as well.  Just did a ride through some tough stuff and broke off the right plastic bit as well as put a little dent in the tank.  Should have had crash bars on there before I did what I did.

Yea I broke my blinkers tore the plastics off the tank shredded the grips and bent the bars. Eye opening for sure! Really not too worried about the way the bike looks just looking to prevent any real damage.

Here's what I'm looking at so far for mine.  I've had great luck with Rocky Mountain

Everide put this on his KLR but I don't see it for Gen 1

Hyde Racing has a nice slippery, light in weight skid plate.
