Dates are June 20, 21, & 22, 2013. You can arrive anytime after noon on Thursday, June 20, departing on Sunday, June 23. Weather should be dry and warm - avg high 78, avg low 52. BUT, this is South Dakota...if you don't like the weather, just wait a minute. ;-) Be aware that there is very spotty cell phone coverage at the campground (can be a good thing), but if you ride to the top of the hill (2 minutes away) most will get a good signal. Note: The cell signal in the campground was much improved last June, if memory serves.
Entry Fee: FREE!
Camping: Tents - $8 per person/night, RVs/Campers - $21 per night. You will pay the campground when you arrive, no pre-payment required. I will reserve all tent sites from entries on this sign-up thread. FnF have cabins available as well, but you will need to reserve those yourself by calling Gary or Michelle. Also please call and reserve RV sites on your own. Make sure you tell them you are with DDSR to get the special discount!
We will have enough room for plenty of tents. RV sites near the tent sites are at a premium and need to be reserved as far in advance as possible, although there will be plenty of RV spots available away from "ground zero".
The rally is open to any and all skill levels of riders with any motorcycle that is street legal in SD (doesn't take much: headlight, taillight & license plate is about it). All attempts will be made to keep the amount of pavement on our rides to a minimum, but it is a necessary evil in the Black Hills to get from one trail to another sometimes.
Rides can range from gravel/easy fire roads to rocks to single track to really gnarly rocks & single track, hillclimbs, etc. There will be something for everybody!
The Fish 'n Fry campground (FnF) has full showers (coin operated, bring a couple of quarters if you don't want to smell like a dirty biker!), real bathrooms (with sinks & mirrors!), a general store (with beer), a small restaurant (with beer on tap!) and a grill and shelter we can use if it rains. 24hr gas station/convenience store right across the street, and Deadwood is only 10 minutes away. There are picnic tables, but if you want a guaranteed seat by the fire you better bring your own.
Electricity is available to charge cell phones, iPods, etc., however it is outside, so use at your own risk!
Firewood from outside the campground is not permitted (sometimes an exception is made for us DDSR folks, though).
The FnF has bundles of wood for $4.
Limited food will be provided, but plan on fending for yourself during the day.

Cars, trucks & bike trailers will have room to park, but could be a ways away from your campsite.

Hank we need to add a trailer to the Montana crew. We will have a total of 1 rv, 3 toy hauler trailers, and 2 tents. We would also like to help with a meal. Let us know who to contact or what you need. Wade rice also said he would throw in some gifts for the event. I can talk to him but I didn't know if dealers were invited.
Weestrom, and everyone else who hasn't been to one of these gatherings. I'm going to reiterate that you need to be making your reservations directly to Fish n Fry Campground. This sign up list is so that we know who and what are coming, but its your responsibility to make your reservations.
I'd really hate for someone to show up thinking they have a spot but finding out they don't.

As far as I know, everyone is invited, even dealers. Douglas Shonley from Farklebar was out last spring. Any chance we can spend time looking at new products is time well spent. I can't say anyone will get rich off the tightwads in this group but who knows. ;D ;D
If dealers of any kind do come in, it may be a good idea to chat with Michele or Gary at the campground to make sure you have the space you need or any other needs you may have.

Everyone needs to remember that DDSR is just a loosely organized bunch. There are no fees, and we really don't do much other than pick a spot and a weekend. Everyone is pretty much responsible for themselves. This forum is a place for us to communicate and organize with each other.

OK, Vegas trip has been canceled, but I'm currently working through some personal health issues. Mrs. Yeti and I may still make the June rally but can't really commit yet. This event sure has changed from the first couple I attended with 6-7 guys sitting around a campfire....almost 50 riders with vendors and everything, it's astonishing to me.

Some of you may have heard of my efforts to develop an adventure ride for western SD. The 900 mile loop has been mapped and completed. The inaugal ride will be help in Jyly with various national leaders. In August the GPS tracks will be made availalbe to everyone. We have done two test rides of this loop and it is great fun.
If you would like, I could briefly address the group with deatails about this ride. I am guessing that many of yo would like to do it. Let me know best time and place if you would like a presentation.

And yes, I'm certain many would like to talk with you and hear the presentation. Usually all groups of riders are back at camp by 4 to 5pm or 6 at the latest. Most everyone is there on Thursday afternoon/evening with a few getting there after dark and all getting camp setup. I think there would be more people on either Friday or Sat nights. if you're coming down highway 85, Spearfish office @ 2014 N. Main Street is open until 4:30pm. If coming from the east, the Black Hills Visitors Center @ Exit 61 in Rapid, north of I-90 should be open until 7pm. Otherwise I think Pactola is the closest to the FishnFry. Pactola open until 5pm.
