Title: Sena SHM5 ?
Post by: locopny on April 13, 2020, 08:48:04 PM
Anyone have a comment about this set?
Dana wants to get me a birthday gift...and would like something for communication while riding 2up.
Would like to use to connect on group rides also...not even sure how it works but seems really cool option.
I have an ear tooth thing for the phone to stay legal while driving in car.

If it was me I would go the SMH10 or 20S

The SMH5 is lacking in range and other things.

Also if you one to use earbuds, I do, the 20S has a much better and more reliable plug system already built in. The SMH5/10 require another mount and poorly designed. Same with the wired mic of the same mount.

I do realise its jump in price but in this situation very well worth it.

If you have any other questions, ask. Will answer as best I can.

I meant Blue tooth.  I keep thinking of when I used to get a 7-11 blue slushie...ok

Ok.  Thats what I was afraid of and wanted opinions.

Appreciated.

The Bluetooth is a great thing. The headset can be connected to your phone, GPS, to the rider and up to 4 other riders.

I am sorry I was mistaken, its the 10S I have, not the 20S

There are lots of videos on youtube to walk you through and give reviews.

I have SMH-10s also.   I've had them a long time and have been very happy with them.
Can't comment on any other models as I've never tried them.

SMH-10 here too. They are perfect for two up, or a pair of folks riding separate. 3 people they work ok too, after that they get finiky.
Battery life is great too
