Well I did it! I just picked up my first orange machine.

04 KTM 250exc but in a 06 frame.

It came with a ton of goodies. Steering damper rekluse two seats and a whole bunch of parts.

Cleaned out the turpentine that formed in the tank and carb and away it went!

Can't wait to get it on the trails.

Why is everyone looking at bikes now when the snow is going to fly any day?

Can't wait to get the thing into the trails!

Got the out of state title situation handled today.  It will be street legal buy spring.

Jetting seems pretty close but I have a bunch of brass and needles to play with out of my old cr.  Let the jetting begin!

not sure on the 250's, the 300 like a #7 slide CEJ 3rd (?) 32-35pilot and 170 main in the hills. I can check my notes for sure if you need a place to start.

Good to know! thanks. I'll have keep that in mind as a base line for higher altitude

Current set up from previous owner...

50:1 amsoil dominator   the guy gave me a gallon of it

main  168
pilot   38
Slide   7.0
Needle  JD RED 3rd clip (middle)
A/S  2 turns out

Boyesen Rad Valve

Stock pipe with fmf turbinecore
Red spring in power valve flush with cover

It is super snappy!  love it.  havent tried any lugging hill climbs yet  AKA  flat lands of Mitchell

I have some triple taper suzuki needles to play with and single taper like the one you mentioned above.

For some reason jetting is fun for me.  Especially the simple two stroke PWK.

I'd list the jetting I use in my 250 for the hills, but according to the service manual, the '04 EXC is jetted quite a bit differently than my '08 XC-W so not sure it would help. I'm sure you'll figure it out, especially if you don't mind tinkering with jetting - lots of people hate it.

Then you can start on the suspension.  ;)

Previous owner is within 5 lbs of me so fortunately it's sprung for my weight. Haven't had the chance to test the valving yet. He said it was done locally Minnesota. We will see how it feels.

What are you guys running for  rear sag?
