I will be having a few riders (5-8) out in the hills for the annual ADV ride the last weekend in Sept. (27-29th)

I will will be out of the area between work and travel for the next month.

Just had a conversation with Stacy, ADVPiglet.

She has accepted the mission to find us a place and weekend to have the Fall Rally. We really need one person to make these decisions and I think she will good person to do this.

I am sure she will be posting her finding with in a week or so.

Please support her efforts. Remember she will be gone for a while as well. :)

Hope we can find a nice place that all will be in agreement with but we cannot always please every one .

Stacy, get a hold of Brad and Sue, they have a place with cabins near 3 forks that might work.  I'll send you a text with the info.  I just can't remember the name right now.

Tomorrow and/or Saturday morning I am going to dust off the v-strom and scout campgrounds around Hill City and Custer, including some of the places that have been mentioned. Open to more suggestions.

Main thing I'm looking for is proximity to trails/gas/food that can accommodate tents, RVs, and us needy cabin people. Major bonus points if there is a bar within walking distance.   8)

When can I go riding again? Crashing sucks!

It is tentatively looking like Nemo Guest Ranch the weekend of September 20-23.  Stay tuned for the official post with more details.

Stacy has to work tomorrow, so I'll write this little bit.  Today, Stacy and I talked few times.  It looked like Nemo Guest Ranch was going to be the place on the 3rd weekend, but the RV spots were on the other side of the creek and also opposite of all the cabins.  So we started looking at the 4th weekend.  Everything is almost wide open.

I went and looked tonight at the RV spots.  Didn't really like it that well.  So Stacy and I decided the following weekend (20th to 23rd) is the date.  It's mostly open and all the RV  spots on the south side of the creek are open.  I also checked with the restaurant and bar owners.  They've been open full time since last year and will continue.  So the restaurant and bar are good to go.  Also, very important, a big fire place at the bar in case it's needed.

Stacy is going to call them tomorrow to confirm everything and will post everything.

I want to point out that Stacy did all the work here.  She just called me to bounce off ideas and get another opinion.
So THANK YOU Stacy.  :)

And let us not forget Malcolm Smith was in attendance at one of our fall rallys at the Nemo Guest Ranch.  Well he was there at the same time anyway.  What a cool guy.

I found a bar, at a campground. You're welcome!  ;D

I am going to start a new thread with fall rally details.

FYI for future campgrounds. There are not many options!  But I did have a beautiful day to ride around the hills checking them out!

This is what I learned:

Whispering Pines - near three forks, an option for future rallies as it would fit our needs

Three Forks - awesome location with bar/restaurant/gas station across street but not much else, no plumbing in any cabins,  showerhouse didn't look like much from outside (although didn't go in).

J Rafter - South of Hill City a few miles. I really liked this place. Nice facilities. Room for trailers and all our stuff. Expensive! Cheapest cabin rate in September was $140. RV sites $65

Buffalo Ridge - right in Custer so close to gas/food. Lots of room. Large picnic shelters for potluck. Cheap. No plumbing in any cabins.

Beaver Lake - 3 miles West of Custer. Possibility for future rallies in Custer. Has the room, cabins with plumbing, not that far out of town, reasonably priced. Cabins were already booked up for Sept dates.

Horse Creek resort - on 385 by Sheridan Lake, has everything except not close to gas. restaurant on site. RV sites $38, Cabins start at $130.

Crooked Creek &  Trailside Resorts  - (Hill City) right options but no room for trailers, etc. Very cramped

Kemps - 1 mile out of Keystone on Old Hill City Rd., right options but no room for trailers, etc. Very cramped

Thanks so much for taking the reins on the fall rally!    I plan on making this one, come hell or high water!

Nemo is a better place to have a dual sport rally anyway, The fall rally is usually away from the single track and big bike orientated, as such Ive never really made plans to attend. Nemo is right in the middle of all the riding a better place to suit all riding preferences.
