Skank in the water!

So I was doing some maintenance this weekend on the 640.

Oil change was 3 drain plugs, 2 filters, 2 places to fill oil .....   good thing I kinda like the bike!

Anyhow, when checking the radiator level, I found a lot of crystalization in and around the cap - floaty crusties on stuff - sometimes not easy to pick off...    my assumption is that it's down in the channels.

What does that mean?  Can I get it out with a good rinse or do I need to take off the radiators?  Can I boil it clean or do I need to replace?  When does it matter?

Skank in the water?  I thought you were talking about trashy women in a hot tub or something.   :o

I would use a mixture of CLR diluted in distilled water and run that in there for a short ride, drain it and then thoroughly flush it again with distilled water before refilling it.  CLR should dissolve just about anything that would crystallize in there.  I'm guessing maybe a previous owner introduced tap water with a high TDS into the system causing calcium or lime to form the crystallization.
