There's a 2003 Speed Triple for sale locally, wondering if anyone has a handle on these things. Decent bike? Reputation for fun is great, but are they mechanically sound?

I've never had or even ridden one, but I've read a lot of really good things about them and almost nothing bad.  They come up often on the Road Warriors forum on ADV.  They look like a lot of fun to me!

I have ridden several speed triples over the years, had an 01 for short while, but I'm not much of a sport a sport bike guy. I have had nothing but praise for my Triumphs. The power is consistent and pulls strong. That motor is nearly the same as my 01 Tiger and have had no issues except for a change in mapping that could smooth out my very low speed ride. I have 53,000 miles on the Tiger and still pulls like a freight train.
