from around 2000 to 2012 or so a group of us would ride Thursday nights after work from Piedmont. due to unfortunate events the group fell apart. It was always a great time so thinking of trying to get on started again if there is interest?
We met at the Piedmont lot at 4:30 back in the day but where and when can be worked out if there is interest. In the past we had 10 or so guys with about half showing up on most nights. typically had a beer or two after we got done, but that's optional ;).
Let me know if you are interested, what days/places would work, etc....
Only 487 miles to Piedmont. I'd be in for a Thursday night ride or two. ::)
Was a Fun but Funky night last night .....
Tried to ride some stuff around Victoria last night with Mike and Arlen .... It's still WET and there has been some spotty wind/tree issues.
All of us had some slight issues:
- Arlen couldn't stay upright 100% of the time
- Brad had to haul out the warrior princess in a truck because her plumbing sprung a leak
- Mike tuckered himself out trying to navigate the "Pixy Stix Forest"
Yea, it was a great time
You could have been there

It was a good time. I will work on my rescue party efficiency... ;) ;D
Princess-less ..... Ordered parts from Ross. Think I'll be w/o the Beta for about a week >:(
bummer. I can't ride next week, but should be good for the week after.
Another good night of riding! Mike and his buddy flogged me so I was sweating like a pig ..... both Mike and the Princess are waiting for me to "UP" my game.
Trails are in pretty good shape.
Who's in for next week?
Wacked
HAHA.. hard to follow us when we can't stay on the right trail lol...
a couple more would really make it fun. anyone????
It was a gorgeous night of riding.
Fletch and I were both unfamiliar with the Schroeder region so decided to explore the single tracks in this area. 2/3 of them were fun and open. 1/3 were still fun but required beating the bikes through dead-fall. There were a couple of trails where we got denied and had to turn around.
I went down twice and smashed my nuts each time!.... it was still fun ;)

It was another great night. In the end I think the trees may have won but we will try again next week!
I wonder if Fletch is a closet Lumer Jack?!
LUMBER JACK!!!!
there will have to be a lot of tree whacking if we're getting back on those trails
We can do it. I'll saw this time
I feel kinda sorry for the people that missed last weeks ride .....
Because of some upcoming weekend plans, I couldn't fully prep for a single track flogging with the princess SO ... Mike and I jumped on the bigger bikes after work for a quick loop, 2-tracking it around Pine Grove/Hippy Hole area. Great trail conditions. Made it back by 8:00
Perfect night for riding .......
It was great! thanks for showing me places I've never been to.... the rest of you should really consider this, it's pretty fun.... ;)

Stop rubbing it in. >:(
haha. let me rephrase that: It was great! thanks for showing me places I've never been to.... the rest of you LOCAL PEOPLE should really consider this, it's pretty fun.... ;)
any better ??
No, not really.
Well, screw it then!
Jeff, Fletch, and I going to ride the Bogus Jim area this Thursday night. The weather will be perfect; the trails will be fun. We will POP out of the trees about 8pm with big ass grins on our face! :evil
Wacked
Indeed we will!!

haha
you with all your beautiful weather and trails... I can ride around some gravel path around here and pretend the tall grass is a tree forest.
yeah...totally makes you jealous doesn't it...?
8)
Another great night! a little blood sweat and tears (OK, maybe no tears) and we made it out of the woods just at dark. I'm a little sore this morning from a minor fall, Brad saw the whole thing I'm sure it was entertaining.. who's in for next week?
Yea - I lied a little bit on the last post.
Said that we'd come out of the woods with big-ass-grins on our faces......... for a couple of us, those grins left our faces and are probably somewhere in our gut.
First part of the night was stellar. Then, I got insistent that we do a trail that had kicked Jeff's and my butt earlier this spring. This time I brought the little bike and wanted to teach that trail a lesson. This trail can be a rocky son-of-a-gun and has a big sweeping curve that made us turn around last time. This same spot proved to be a challenge again. After some offs/wounds/recoveries, we found ourselves close to twight with no option but to keep going and get out of there ASAP - no breaks; no stopping to lick our wounds - nothing like navigating a single track with about 25% light and quickly fading
We made it - barely. Not sure if we kicked the trail's butt or if it kicked ours.
I'm dense in the head - kinda like it - and will probably do it again next week.
you too can join in on this weeks fun!! stay tuned for details.......
Due to the weather this week, Fletch and I road today (Sat) from mid-afternoon and into the evening. The weather was PERFECT! Trails were in good shape.
Explored some new 2-track around slate creek dam that was fun - it was rougher with a lot of whoopties - come on guys, that's a trail term isn't it? Then cut across to do single-track 6936 and rode that in it's entirety.
After we popped out of the track it was time to get home before the sun went down. We rode as fast as I could (Mike casually cruised on my tail) up Mystic, across Slate Creek, and back to the trucks
The highlight was ripping around a corner just east of Slate Creek dam and spooking a Big Nasty Ass Mountain Lion who didn't want anything to do with dirt bikes. Mike and I watched him head up the hill for 5-6 seconds.
It was a great afternoon of riding and the Mt. Lion was defiantly the highlight!! Although that never ending hill climb was pretty good too!
also staying on your tail was far from a casual effort....lol
Wishing I live closer to the action!!!
I think the days are getting short enough that the after work rides are about done for the year. Still some nice weekends left though so if anyone is interested let me know.
We shall try again in the spring for the weeknights.
Fletch, would love to join you for a weekend ride.
TooTall (Ron)
that would be great, anytime you want to go just let me know. I'm usually free.
I am up for a weekend ride as well.
OK - Tonight was the start of the Weeknight Riding league for 2020!
Gorgeous evening to chew some dust. Mike and I started out on some easy single track SW of Sugar Shack. Trails in great condition. Must admit, I was rustier than usual. The downed tree 300 yards from the start of the trail kicked my old, tired butt. Then it get better after that .....
Until I hit a tree stump in a muddy gully crossing 2 hours later.
Ooooops!!!
I'd better get it fixed so I can can go do it again next week
Wacked
It was great! And we beat the storm back to the pickup. And ask for much more! Looking forward to next week. If anyone else is interested let us know.
Another great ride. Beat ourselves up enough to sleep good ;D
Yea - It was a good beating and fun route!
Think I'll be tapping into Aleve, CBD, and Yoga With Adrienne today....
Glad to hear the young guys felt it because this old guy definitely feels it this morning. A fun ride and a good sleep as I dreamed of steep climbs with loose rocks and logs to jump.
haha, ya. in addition to the usual aches and pains my wrist, knee, and little toe(?) hurt from falling down. But, I will be fine in time for our next ride.
Perfect night or Single Tracking.
Ron lead us up through Schroeder and up into Johnson Siding. Temp was just right. Made it back with zero "offs" and nothing to fix for next time - that's new!
Wacked
a great ride indeed, Thanks Ron.
Enjoyed the ride as well. Couldn't ask for better riding conditions. Hope more people can join us in the future.
Ron
Last night was EPIC!!!
For various reasons, I found myself without the usual riding partners last night. Went out with Jaxon, a young guy with a 250 2-smoke from Colorado that said single track was his "jam". Completed 6713 in Victoria Lake as I had not finished it during the rally.
It was EPIC because I was the one who got to do the flogging!!! Yea, It's a new sensation of power. Usually Mike and Ron flog me down the trails but tonight was my turn. Each of us had a couple of Offs.
It was fun. It was hot. 2.5 hours was enough
Jaxon ended the night puking his guts out.
I look forward to next week
Wacked
Sorry I missed it, glad you had fun. see ya next week.
Look forward to next week's "flogging".
Very fun night up through Schroeder and Bogus Jim region. Just TooTall and myself.
There was even a little barbed wire event that instantaneously reminded me of Fletches "Fat-Tire-Bicycle-Guys" video. It didn't involve me (for once); It wasn't that bad, but I did have flashback.
Wacked
I should be back to my normal schedule next week. Looking forward to it!
I will be MIA next week. Will be pounding sand whoops in Michigan all week.
Awesome way to wrap up the season!!!
Got in 4 hours of single track today - 1st run in maybe 2 months - and it was awesome out there. Weather was perfect. Did a big loop around Victoria Lake.
Ron couldn't make today. Mike, myself, and a new guy named Josh made the run. Josh has mad mountain-bike skills that he seamlessly transferred his new single track'in Beta.
Looking forward to next spring
Wacked
It was a great afternoon, better than expected! other than the boot full of ice water it was a perfect day! thanks!
It may not be the end just yet?? have you looked at the forecast for the week? If it stays like it is Saturday looks great and Friday is good too???
I will be in Colorado for Thanksgiving/Christmas stuff this coming weekend.
Weather looks NICE - especially Sat - but no can do.
Maybe Monday I can get out there.
Text me if you want Josh's #

Wasn't exactly a weeknight, but Whacked and I went for a little ride back in Sept. with my younger brother who finally sent some video.
https://youtu.be/NhqSDbVM5ic
This is why I love single track.
Looks like a blast!
OK Mike, you're showing a little favoritism here. Your brother shows up and you take him to the primo, fast flowing trails. I ride with you and it's a log infested, rock hopping, always uphill nightmare. What's the deal?
Haha. You may have a point? I owe you a beer or two. I did get rid of two of the trees today though.
hey, it's that time of year again! the start up of the weeknight riding is next week?? I think Brad is on for Wednesdays and I'm sure Ron is in, so look back at this thread to see what you are missing out on and let us know if you want to go.
Definitely in, just need to remember how to ride.
I feel Like I'm going to have the same problem?
Here's what I HATE about single track riding .....
Waking up at 11:00 at night with "
CRAMPS FROM HELL" !!! I usually get one in my thigh that literally makes me sick to my stomach for 5 minutes
Other than that, it's all good, quite fun, and worth it :evil.
Great night of riding last night
I'm tellin ya Brad... you have to ingest beer after a ride or you will have these problems.. stopped for a Bruce Banner at Lost Cabin on the way home and I was fine... ;) ;D

Well I've found drinking tonic water helps with leg cramps. The more quinine the better it seems to work.
Up to you if you add a 'spirit' to it.
Well, it's spring again! Who is in for the weeknight rides? All trails open the 15th of May, although some single track is open now. Next week looks less than perfect for the weather but how about starting up again the week of the 11th? Who's in and what day works best?
Fletch and whoever wants to ride Johnson siding Schroeder areas let me know. I'll go for rip
Im gonna ride tomorrow lol after 11 then also mon and Tuesday
I live across the road from access.
You can pm me on fb

Work completely HOSED me over from riding with the guys Thurs night due to a last minute order at work......
So, I went out Sunday and did some solo single track in on the NE corner of 44 and 385 and then just west of 385. The fall colors were spectacular and the trails were in prime shape. Only saw two other bikes on the trail.
Now's the time to get out and explore!

Just got my bike back together and went out solo on Saturday.
I found a nice flowy single track through the trees over in the Schroeder trails off 6607. Still figuring it all out but so happy to have it right there, next door. The conditions were like you say, excellent!
Only saw two other sets of MC tracks out there.
Catching my breath.
Five things you missed if you weren't Single-Tracking last night:
- Perfect weather
- Breaking up a herd of 15 or so Elk (yep, this was in the Victoria Lake zone)
- Getting absolutely blinded by the sun so you couldn't see Jack when going up certain inclines
- Riding 25% faster than usual on a tight knarly trail cause you are being chased by a dog in the absolute middle of nowhere
- Great trail conditions
Yep, you should have been there......
Went out on Sunday with Fletch, TooTall, and Al for another great day of Single-tracking
Introduced Al and his beastly YZ450F to some trails. The temp was perfect again; trails were a little dusty. Fletch led us on an awesome route back into an area that I hadn't been on for a couple of years.
Hope to do it again soon
